Biofriendly Corporation Responds
This website is sponsored by Biofriendly Corporation. We created this online venue for interested parties to see why Biofriendly believes itself to be the target of a smear campaign conducted by its competitor, ORYXE Energy International.
Whether or not you agree with the findings of Biofriendly is entirely up to you. This site is here only to show Biofriendly's findings, and the conclusions that Biofriendly has drawn based on these data.
To understand what happened completely, one has to start at the beginning of the story:
The state of Texas initiated a revolutionary program to lower diesel exhaust emissions in 2005. In this program, the state gave companies with emission reduction solutions the opportunity to have their products approved upon the completion of rigorous state and federally certified test procedures.
Both ORYXE and Biofriendly were approved as emissions reduction solutions by the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality. After this, both companies along with other approved products, began the process of competing for business with the oil companies in Texas. The end result of this was that Biofriendly won an estimated 70% of the business in Texas.
Before state approval was awarded to Biofriendly, ORYXE began sending complaints to the State of Texas in an attempt to stop Biofriendly from receiving said approval. Included in the complaints were slander and falsehoods. These same falsehoods were repeated by ORYXE to staff at the U.S. EPA. Documentation of these actions has been obtained through requests to Texas under the Freedom of Information Act.
The first falsehood was that Biofriendly had failed an emissions test at Southwest Research Institute. Please click here to see a letter from Lawrence Smith, the Manager of Engine and Emissions Research at Southwest Research Institute. The letter will show that this is not true. The State of Texas dismissed the argument from ORYXE as it was found to be untrue.
The second falsehood was that Biofriendly had failed a test at the University of West Virginia. Please click here to see the data showing that Biofriendly never conducted a test at West Virginia University and that the test was conducted by ORYXE. This test was also done using a purported sample of Biofriendly's additive, Green Plus, at an incorrect concentration using a one day test protocol that was not federally approved. This complaint was also dismissed by the State of Texas as it was unfounded.
The third falsehood was that Biofriendly had failed a test at the University of California Riverside. Please click here to see a letter from the laboratory at the University of Riverside showing that they never tested Biofriendly's additive. This complaint was also dismissed as it was proven to be totally false.
The fourth falsehood was that Olson-Ecologic Laboratory, one of the laboratories where Green Plus was tested, was an unapproved laboratory. Please click on this link to see the data showing that Olson-Ecologic Laboratory was government approved for the tests conducted on Green Plus. This complaint was dismissed and the results of the test were approved by the State of Texas.
ORYXE however, did not stop there. In Early February, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon University, named David Touretzky, published a story on the Internet repeating the exact same complaints issued to the state of Texas and the US EPA. He claimed he had a source but never stated who they were.
Since that time in Early February, Touretzky has created several sites with these same falsehoods listed above, including one on the Carnegie Mellon server. As what was written is libelous, it violated the school's computing policy. After showing school officials what Touretzky had written, the school forced him to remove the content. To this day however, Touretzky uses this site as a "link farm" for the smear campaign on Biofriendly.
Touretzky actions have also been called into question by others. To see some of the data from others who have had complaints with regard to David Touretzky, click here.
Only days after Touretzky's article hit the Internet, a television reporter by the name of Brett Shipp at WFAA news in Dallas, TX ran a story that included some of the complaints above along with misleading and incorrect claims. While Brett Shipp never credited ORYXE as his source of information or as the instigators of his story, the competitor continually quoted in his article as unhappy with Biofriendly was ORYXE, and the content was remarkably similar to what Biofriendly had dealt with already. Shipp did not provide a balanced reporting of the hard proven facts. In actuality, he ignored nearly all of the evidence Biofriendly provided him to counter what he made the decision to report.
Biofriendly has
no intention of getting involved in a corporate war over clean air. The
company simply wants to do business fairly in an open marketplace. The
company has remained quiet for over a year prior to publishing this
website.
After
having discussions with Oryxe and Touretzky's people we were trusting that they
would begin acting in an ethical manner and end their smear campaign,
but they have not.
So we have published this data for you to
make a decision for yourself.
We hope this information helps to show you the whole story. To get more
